Remarks | Mapping of (TTAGGG)n revealed conspicuous signals on telomeres of all chromosomes and no internal telomere sequences. |

Karyological information |
Geographical area of study | Itapicuru-Mirim River (Itapicuru River Basin) in municipality of Tucano, state of Bahia, North eastern Brazil. | |
Source of chromosomes | Anterior kidney. |
Number of specimens with sex | 13 (8 male, 5 female) |
Diploid chromosome number | 52 |
Karyotype formula | 12m+12sm+28st/a |
Fundamental arm number | - |
Chromosome length | - |
Sex chromosome | No heteromorphic sex chromosomes detected. |
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH | Ag-NOR detected on chromosome pair 8 with heteromorphic ribosomal cistrons at interstitial regions on short arms. C-banding revealed few heterochromatin blocks restricted to centromeres. CMA3 stained GC-rich sites were coincident with Ag-NORs. Additional CMA3 signals observed in, at least, three other chromosomal pairs. |
